PROX•IM•I•TY


Trap Heals, in collaboration with Represent Justice, a nationwide criminal justice reform coalition, we will be creating an art installation in conjunction with the film “Just Mercy”, opening in theaters nationwide in January 2020. This activation will be open from January 16-26, 2020 and is meant to amplify the work of dozens of criminal justice organizations in Los Angeles and part of a broader campaign strategy to shift public opinion on incarcerated individuals as we also increase public engagement and policy reforms.

We have intentionally identified a location in South Los Angeles as the place for our installation due to the neighborhood’s history and legacy as a cultural center for Black Los Angeles, and as a community impacted by mass incarceration. The installation, and its proximity to the Cinemark, would help activate local businesses and build momentum for the film and the themes it raises. Most importantly, it is also intended to be a space of healing in an urban environment where art, music, culture and sustainability converg
